Never scored targets before? Need a refresher?

Most matches have six (6) scored targets (12 for Air Pistol). We’ll score them one at a time.

Take the first target. Count the holes and ensure there are the right number. If there was an allowable malfunction there will be more than the expected 5 or 10. In that case you will score the 10 (or 5) WORST shots.

Start with the highest scoring shots, if the shot breaks the inner 10 ring that’s scored as X (still worth 10 points. Record each shot in its own box on the scorecard.

Finish scoring the rest of the targets, adding up totals as you go. (don’t worry to much about the arithmetic errors – I check them all when recording them).

Make sure the athlete’s name is at the top, and both athlete and scorer both sign at the left. Other fields are nice to have, but not necessary (“bib” is your competitor number. A typical Pistol Ontario match doesn’t use them).

Once complete, submit the score card to the organizer (I normally have a box on one of the tables where I ask you to put them).

Interim results are typically posted within a day or two (depending on how fast I enter and record all the scores) and are sent to the athletes to review. A couple of days later, they become official and are posted to the website and submitted to the Shooting Federation (for members) for classification purposes.

Thanks for participating!
